2 years ago I think you do silly, so its the same.I'd say because they are on a lunch break or just got off work and are stopping off on the way home. And sometimes people want to run errands before they go home after work. Imagine a hospital with 1 big dressing room for all the staff. I just always assumed that is was because nurses worked such long shifts, it was easier for them to go to the store, etc, before going home to relax.

But a scrub suit surely carries fewer germs than the heavy woollen overcoat that a visitor has just swept across the floor, dangled over a chair then put back on again. All medical staff should not wear their scrubs out in the community. The difference is they wear a coat inside but still they can carry germs or something because they don't button their shirt.
