Please can you supply the documents supplied by Sheffield City Council to support this bid. Every night when I get there, there is hardly a queue waiting to do that junction and no queue into Park Square. The scheme should relieve congestion along this stretch of road, especially for traffic travelling into the city centre during the morning peak. The Sheffield City Region uses its available capital funding to help unlock private sector investment including transport connectivity. There is currently considerable queuing causing delays along the A61 (Inner Ring Road), particularly during peak times. Published Traffic congestion and journey times on the Inner Ring Road (IRR) were identified as having increased, particularly during the morning and evening peak hours; and were forecast to increase without intervention. One of the worst sections, between Sheffield Parkway and Penistone Road, was prioritised for improvement. This work commenced in 2019 and is nearing completion, with works scheduled to finish at the end of April 2020. The Combined Authority will consider the proposal through its usual project assurance framework to make sure that any investment improves the current situation as well as enabling economic growth and contributing to the Sheffield City Region’s ambitions to create 70,000 additional jobs, build 7,000 homes a year and create £3.1bn of additional GVA. The coaches will be escorted and at other times, lockable bollards will prevent access by motor vehicles.Whilst the scheme will improve the pedestrian route on the western side of Bramall Lane, traffic which currently uses the junction to access Hill Street will be displaced onto other roads, principally Harwood Street. This investment will strengthen our digital infrastructure, improve learning spaces within our schools […] In consultation with Local Councillors and the Cabinet Member for Transport we concluded that the only practical way to reduce accidents at the junction is to close Bridge Hill.As part of the legal process associated with a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) you are invited to make comment or object to this proposal. The deadline for comments is 14 December 2019. Most of the 21 recorded injury accidents that occurred between 2012 and 2018 at this location can be attributed to the complex nature of the junction and the demands on drivers to make decisions and undertake manoeuvres safely in a short period of time.A scheme has been developed which seeks to simplify the junction interactions by physically closing off the end of Woodhead Rd/Hill Street at its junction with Bramall Lane and introducing a prohibition of driving order for motor vehicles. However, a two-way cycle link will be maintained through the physical closure along with access in a westerly direction by coaches for away fans visiting the Bramall Lane football stadium.
These roads are not suitable for large HGVs being “narrow and twisty” and largely residential.
