Kai, also known as Overhaul, is a Yakuza, being part of an organization that, along with several others, ruled the underworld in the past. When the heroes raid the Shie Hassaikai's hideout, he is seen talking to his father, assuring him that everything will be alright. He will also punish those around him for not showing the proper respect to him and the Shie Hassaikai. He uses his Quirk to disassemble and reassemble Eri, so that he could make Quirk suppression bullets. After killing Magne, he was only concerned about getting her blood on him. If blood, dirt or some other unclean substance comes in contact with Overhaul's person, he will start developing hives and lose his usual composure, becoming increasingly unhinged as a result.

Believing his father to be a fool, he makes him ill so that he could lead the Yakuza and distribute the Quirk Erasure Bullets. He refuses to be touched by others, or even breathe in the same air as theirs, which is one of the reasons he wears an air-filtering plague doctor mask and forces his subordinates to do the same while around him.

Kai Chisaki, or more commonly known as Overhaul, is our newest villain. In the end, however, he was really using the League of Villains as pawns to further his goals and, like his own henchmen, had no care for what happens to them. He serves as the primary antagonist of the Shie Hassaikai Arc and is currently imprisoned in Tartarus.

This transformation granted Overhaul increased power, heightened speed, access to Shin's During his brash encounter with the League of Villains, Overhaul knew that at least one of its members would attack him with a Quirk, so he preemptively had a sniper, equipped with experimental Quirk-Destroying Bullets, set as a precautionary measure.

Kai's boss, who was growing aware of the violent, immoral path his underling was following to uphold the name of the Shie Hassaikai, attempted to sway him towards a more honorable course, but to no avail; Kai became more and more convinced that illegal, questionable dealings were the only way the yakuza could ever restore their former honor. Despite being a competent and dangerous threat, his disregard for the lives of others would eventually result in his downfall. Kai, to this day, still feels deeply indebted to his boss for taking him in, being adamant in returning said debt by returning the yakuza to their glory days somehow. Despite his strong-willed attitude, he is capable of expressing true fear and shock, especially post-defeat, after the With arrival of Izuku and Nighteye, Overhaul realized his plans were at risk of failing, so he went as far as to merge with Shin, and after doing so, Overhaul himself became monstrous in terms of appearance. Kai Chisaki (in Japanese: 治崎 廻 Chisaki Kai), also known by his villain name "Overhaul", is a major antagonist in the manga/anime series My Hero Academia; serving as the main antagonist of the Shie Hassaikai Arc. Shigaraki has had a grudge against him for killing Magne and severing Mr. Compress' arm. His design, more importantly the mask he wears on his face, is extremely reminiscent of the same type of masks that were worn during the plague.

The masks worn by his closest subordinates also serve as a reminder of this mindset; he doesn't view them as worthy of sharing the same air as his.
