Joyce’s infectious laugh and joyful spirit made her a joyous person for her family and her large community of friends. She returned to her hometown of Waller where she worked for many years in the Waller County Hospital and with Dr. Bolton in his busy hometown clinic. She is survived by two children- daughter, Donna Lawton (Reno, Nevada), son Tim Smith and his wife Bonnie (Waller, TX), six grandchildren-Mitchell Mortenson, Chase Smith, Kyle Lawton, Cassidy Smith, Tommy Warren, Taylor Warren and one great-grandson, Liam Smith. The yearly family vacation to Surfside was a favorite time for Joyce. Together they raised 3 children: Ken, Mike and Connie while working side by side in the family business they founded in 1959, Smith Farm & Garden, which continues to this day as a third-generation family operation. Joyce graduated Salutatorian from Eureka High School, Bakersburg, Oklahoma, May 19, 1948, before attending Panhandle State University where she met and later married the love of her life, her beloved, William L. “Bill” Smith, on June 10, 1949.
