Peter Godfrey, the director, has a good deal to learn about the art of telling a boudoir joke in the parlor and getting away with it. Barbara Stanwyck is at her youthful best as a single, New York writer who pens an ongoing fib in a magazine feature about being a married mom in the country where she cooks and home-makes up a storm (with an emphasis on the "makes up.") The catch: Not only does Stanwyck not have a home in Connecticut, but she's never been in a kitchen in her life! "Christmas in Connecticut" is cute and diverting, with a good performance by Stanwyck. First it is in black and white...so that is good...next Barbara Stanwick gives a great comedic performance like she did Meet John Doe.
