There might not be another artist today that can elicit such images by their storytelling like Bruce Springsteen, and to me this was the pillar of his efforts. Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2015 Excellent sound finally! Finally you can hear the Gary playing bass. Its B-side was either "Independence Day" or "Ramrod", depending on the country of release. Something that seems to have faded in 2018. Many Springsteen fans feel Born to Run is his best effort and I like that one a lot too, but The River set a standard with me then and still that is hard to match. Centricity Music released the album on April 22, 2016. We still feel good when listening to it now. David Gray - Best Of Live At The National Concert Hall Dublin Sept 2017 (Deluxe Dou... Yes for sure this CD was great !, - as I had to replace my old cassette version of over nearly twenty years old ! I only bought this for the car, as I've been listening to The Boss on vinyl for more years than I care to admit.

The unique instrumental album actually features no electric guitar, with Bromberg’s bass accompanied solely by … ! One of my fav CD's!!! "The River" is a song written and recorded by Bruce Springsteen, accompanied by the E Street Band, in 1979. 1980 album from the singer, songwriter and Rock icon The River is a double album opus that alternates between fun rockers like 'Hungry Heart', 'Two Hearts', 'Sherry Darling' and 'Cadillac Ranch' and such weighty ballads as 'Pointblank', 'Independence Day', 'Stolen Car' and the title track. Great to get this cd at such a good price. Amazon is like a Xmas Wonderland!! The River was Springsteen's most ambitious work to date, even as the music sounded leaner and more strongly rooted in rock & roll tradition than anything on Darkness or Born to Run, and though the album wasn't the least bit short on good times, the fun in songs like "Two Hearts," "Out in the Street," and "Cadillac Ranch" is rarely without some weightier subtext. "The River" has radio hits ("Hungry Heart"), concert staples ("Out in the Street," "The River"), rockers ("Cadillac Ranch," "Ramrod," "I'm A Rocker"), moody pieces "(Stolen Car," "Point Blank") and under rated deep cuts ("The Price You Pay," "Ties That Bind," and "Two Hearts"). I don't like reviewing music since it's such a subjective topic, but if you're looking at this you already like Springsteen. Rather, he preaches understanding and camaraderie for your neighbor. The original sucked far as sound. GREAT FEEDBACK & CD!! Amazon has everything you could ever imagine or want!! I love it!! Bruce didn't intend to make it such a big project but he just kept writing songs.
