National Automobile Museum – Reno, Nevada ジャガーというと、お上品で紳士的な高級車ばかりを作っているイメージが何処かありますが、このようなスーパーカーを販売していたこともありました。名前は・・・ＸＪＲ１５。ジャガーの名前は入っているものの、純粋なジャガーのクルマではなく、スコットランドの実業家：トム・ウォーキンショーが設立したレーシングブランドであるトム・ウォーキンショー・レーシング（ＴＷＲ）が製造・開発を務め、当時ＴＷＲと提携していたジャガーが販売するという形になりました。・・・こういうわけで、実質的にはこれはジャガーのクルマというよりＴＷＲのクルマというわけです。ただ、ジャガーもほぼ同時期にＸＪ２２０というスーパーカーを開発しており、ある意味ＸＪＲ１５とＸＪ２２０は腹違いの兄弟と言えるでしょうね。ジャガーのワンメイクレース用に開発されただけであり、ル・マンに参戦するために作られたクルマというわけではありませんが、ベースはル・マンに参戦していたＸＪＲ９で、心臓部はＶ１２エンジン、そしてデザインはレーシングカーさながらのものとなっており、“公道を走れるレーシングカー”とも言えるでしょう。また、生産台数はなんとわずか５３台。一生に一度見れれば良い方ですね。日産のプロトタイプレーシングカー：Ｒ３９０は、実はこれがベースにされていたらしいです。以前よりＸＪＲ１５とＲ３９０のデザインがどことなく似ていると思っていたのですが、そういうワケだったのですねぇ。妙に感心してしまいました（笑）。
