The style is succinct and terse; the book is very readable and the narrative is brisk.A brutal, sad and honest reflection of Auschwitz, by a boy who survived it. The book, first published in 1955, was selected for Oprah's Book Club in 2006, and continues to be an important reminder of man's capacity for inhumanity. Secondly, life is a gift and should be lived well. It's difficult to imagine the horror the Jews went through yet Wiesel bring it to life, drawing out the empathy from the reader with his prose. This true story will —and should — linger in our hearts and minds forever. It somehow makes all the suffering appear that much worse.

It is well written and therefore easy to read. I only wish I could have prevented it from ever being told; simply to wish that you, and many millions had not had to endure such suffering and hurt. such a beautiful written book. If you want to read just one short book, this is the one to read.
