Jonathan Ryan organ American organist Jonathan Ryan has six major international prizes, a Grammy award nomination and a critically acclaimed début CD under his belt. Audio selections from Jonathan Ryan’s recent organ recital at St. Joseph’s Church, Needham, MA are now posted online. Additional awards include First Prize in the Arthur Poister, John Rodland Scholarship, and Albert Schweitzer (Young Professional Division) National Competitions.He recently released his début recording, entitled As a solo recitalist, Jonathan’s performances have taken him to prominent venues across the USA and Europe, including full-length recitals at the 2014 National Convention of the American Guild of Organists, three national conventions of the Organ Historical Society, the Nicholaikirche in Leipzig (Germany), the Cathédrale St-André in Bordeaux (France), the Fraumünster in Zürich (Switzerland), St. Paul’s Cathedral in London (UK), the prestigious Spotlight Series of the Piccolo Spoleto Festival (Charleston, SC), and the inaugural series of the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, CA.A native of Charlotte, NC, Jonathan began playing the organ at age eight. Acclaimed by audiences and critics alike for his strong communicative skills in numerous styles, exceptional use of the organ’s capabilities, and bold programming, Jonathan Ryan has emerged as one of North America’s premier young concert artists.

He holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Eastman School of Music where he studied organ with Todd Wilson and David Higgs respectively.Also a conductor and passionate about sacred music, he serves on the music staff of Christ Church (Episcopal) in Greenwich, CT where he directs the semi-professional adult choir, and works with the Choir of Men & Boys and the Girls Choir.

He most recently served as associate director of music at one of the Episcopal Church's largest music programs at Christ Church in Greenwich, Conn.
