If you stop defragmentation in the middle, nothing bad will happen. also, get a better defrag program than microsoft supplies.there is one called defraggler and you can get it by google or snapfiles.com, i can't remember which.It just stops, your computer won't stuff up or anything. During defragmentation data integrity is ensured for both metadata and normal data. It amazes me that people will let a defrag run this long in the first place. So, my laptop (which is running Windows 8) has been a bit slow these couple of weeks so I decided once and for all to defrag drive C. After the analysis of the drive, it said that it was 23% fragmented. "They say" that you will see a noticeable difference in speed, specifically faster.
