There is an extensive collection of Studebakers on the top two floors, and military vehicles on the bottom floor. The main entrance to The History Museum and the Studebaker National Museum is located on Thomas Street, which is one block south of Washington Street. Enjoyed the history and displays! The upper level displays vehicles from 1934 onward. A secondary area on the main level displays family history of the Studebakers and the Olivers, South Bend makers of the Oliver Chilled Plow and other farm equipment.
Would recommend stoppiing to take it in, especially if you like cars.The Studebaker Museum is much more than just automobiles, even though it does display many, many models from the turn of the 20th century to the end of its production run in 1966. The new building for the museum was designed on the architectural styling of many of the older Studebaker factory buildings in the area. There is an extensive collection of Studebakers on the top two floors, and military vehicles on the bottom floor.
The History Museum is a contemporary building attached to the Studebaker National Museum, but it can be confusing. They had changed a few of the displays and we liked that. I would certainly recommend this museum to someone who is a car buff.
