An accident closed one lane of the M4 near the Second Severn Crossing causing four miles of queues.Witnesses reported that the accident involves a car and a lorry.Traffic monitoring system Inrix described it as a "multi-vehicle" accident.It happened on the eastbound carriageway just before the bridge into England.The accident happened around 7.10am, and all lanes re-opened just after 8am.Congestion remained until 8.30am, but has now returned to normal for the time of day.Traffic is now easing and returning to normal for the time of day.Traffic remains stop-start back to junction 24 at the Coldra.The accident has been moved to the hard shoulder, but travel time is around 10 to 15 minutes.Lane one (of three) was closed until just after 8.05am.Around 20 minutes is being added to journey times in the area.The accident has now been moved to the hard shoulder so all lanes have re-opened.Traffic Wales cameras are showing that police have arrived at the scene.One lane has been closed off and traffic is being directed around the crash site.There hasn’t been an accident westbound but Traffic Wales is warning about slow traffic in that direction tooThe queues are now backed up for three miles behind the accident.The vehicles involved in the accident are still blocking one lane just before the bridge.This is from the Traffic Wales camera at Caerleon junction 25.Traffic monitoring system Inrix is showing that 15 minutes is being added to journey times in the area.Queues are building eastbound on this busy part of the motorway.
