They’re both well reviewed grinders. Great tasting espresso in the cup, easy to adjust, dial in, and clean.

Absolutely worth the price tag.I was looking for a manual grinder without electronic parts ever since my Baratza Encore broke down and decided to try this out. Is one easier to repair/replace than the other? It requires a pretty experienced palate to really notice a difference. I personally despise acidity in coffee and this is the first hand grinder I've owned that really let me dial just about all of it out with very little effort. Unfortunately, pieces of beans popcorn out while you’re grinding, ending up on the floor, counter, or wherever.Build quality is astonishing and using it just feels great. It is far superior.I was also debating between the Comandante and Kinu, and i also saw alot of posts about how Kinu seemingly produces more fines, however i use mine for pourover with no issues at all. Please allow 1-2 business days for your order to ship out & please note that USPS is experiencing delays delivering some orders. Thanks.from the time of handheld, hand-cranked calculators, or a Leica from the time of chemical photography. Traveller vs Phoenix (maybe vs Comandante) For daily driver (mostly espresso) Thanks for replies so far, very helpful. Grinders are one of the keys to exceptional espresso. The steel bur grinders work as advertise, grinding to the perfect setting. Potential buyers will not be disappointed from a standpoint of performance or quality of design. 10 comments. From the countless hours of research I've done, I have gathered the following different opinions:There is so little difference between the Kinu and Comandante (especially for someone coming from such a cheap grinder), that whatever I buy will be a significant upgrade and it only comes down to aesthetics, build and price. The Kinu M47 creates way too many fines for V60 brewing and I'll run into blocked filters and muddy brews. It is much better suited for espresso. sold it when I got an electric grinder. The kinu interested me, but it was double the weight. I pushed them all in with my thumb and they went in a millimeter below the cup’s surface. Works great with my Flair Pro. Much clearer brews. With a grind range running from Turkish and espresso fine all the way to whatever your coarse needs may be, the M47 is capable of handling any coffee grind you wish.As its name implies, the M47 uses a 47 mm set of conical steel burrs, coated in their own proprietary material for a longer burr life. The magnets are incredibly strong and, while that's generally good, the fact that there's nothing to get any leverage on with your fingers means it's unfortunately very difficult to pull it off of the base in a smooth, non-violent motion.

Are parts more expensive for one than the other? This is after less than one week and 10 uses on the grinder.Purchased direct but still wanted to post a quick comment.

Quality and finish never cease to amaze me and all my coworkers wish they had one.Excellent grinder everything works great, but just one part from the grinder it has little rust on it, I thought most parts are made from stainless steelThe grind of the Kinu is very nice superb construction, but honestly I’m a 60 year old 100 lb woman and it’s a little awkward for me to use. I’ve done research but I’d like to get the community’s opinion here. I justified buying the c40 as a grinder for when I travel (whenever that happens). Adjustment is micro-stepped, with 50 clicks per rotation of the adjustment wheel, each corresponding to 0.01 mm of vertical movement. My grinder is the awesome Kinu M47 Manual Coffee and Espresso Grinder which I purchased at Prima Coffee. I use it for different grinds but primarily a medium for pour over. I was surprised by the heft of the c40. The heft of it might be a problem for some, especially if you are looking for something to take on the road or trail. But if you are looking for a manual grinder to use at home for a wide range of applications, I don't think you can do better thank the M47.High quality grinder, great taste in cup for espresso, beautiful and excelent service from Prima!! It's a little heavy.
