What was the total amount raised at the last Comic Relief and Sport Relief?Every year, well-known faces and the British public come together to raise millions of pounds for charity.This year, it is Sport Relief making the first big, charity fundraising move of 2020.The main challenge this year saw eight celebrities take on an epic trek across the Namib in Africa to raise vital funds to transform the lives of vulnerable people and communities throughout the UK and internationally.Over four days, the famous faces - including Radio One's Nick Grimshaw and TV judge Rob Rinder - hiked, biked and skied their way across the desert in 35 degree heat to reach a shipwreck on the Skeleton Coast.And last year for Comic Relief, nine celebs took on the pain-staking challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro - ten whole years after another group of celebs took on the challenge for the first time.Then of course, all of the challenges are supported by a live BBC telethon which this years airs on Friday March 13 from 7pm.So, how much has been raised in the last couple of years?Last year, the Comic Relief appeal raised a staggering £63m.According to the Comic Relief website, 90m people's live have been improved across the world by the chairty.Since its humble beginnings back in 1985, £1,000,000,000 has been raised and invested into tackling poverty across the world.

The money will help make a real difference to people living incredibly tough lives here at home in the UK and across some of the world’s poorest communities, with more still coming in from fundraisers taking part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games this Sunday.Included in the overall total and the largest corporate contribution on the night was £7,060,681 raised by Sainsbury’s colleagues and customers who have been doing themselves proud across the country by carrying out fundraising events. As part of its ongoing support for Sport Relief, the Premier League turned every £1 raised by the public during the event into £5, with a final total of £1,050,638 to Sport Relief. The overall total included money raised by Sport Relief Challenges, including Jo Brand's Hell of a Walk.
