Read this before reading the Narrows where Bosch and Rachel chase a serial killer.
He is also known to weave characters in from his different series and make it a real party. For one, it's simply implausible that the victims -- homicide detectives, no less -- could be rendered helpless by such innocuous substances as cough syrup (seriously?)

From there, the race is on to get the Poet before he kills again. I loved this book. His Bosch and Heller series are, by all accounts, some of his best work. Don't let that dissuade you from reading it. But research into police suicides leads Jack to believe that his brother may have been murdered.
Start by marking “The Poet (Jack McEvoy, #1; Harry Bosch Universe, #5)” as Want to Read: We must live in the short run and matters are often unjust there. Finally I realized the end was not the end, but only a fake end, and then the "real story" was about to begin.
Great serial killer mystery. Jack is a great character & the plot was fantastic, especially twisty.
Cravan went through life using multiple mysterious personas. Some of his insights as we find are incorrect. He was the nephew of Oscar Wilde, a boxing champion, a notorious art critic, a scandalous performer, a deserter, the husband of modernist poet Mina Loy, and was pursued by the CIA.This mystery story, led by writer Ross Sutherland, tracks across twenty countries as Cravan's outlandish persona shifts between incarnations. Jack tries to deal with the situations by writing his brother's story.
As he continues his research, Jack lands himself into an FBI investigation that points to a diabolical serial killer. I love the fast paced style, the clues, trying to figure things out along with the characters, seeing inside the system, all of it. Few other authors could make a novel of such length read so easily.
In the center of the story are the Bulavina sisters: Katya and Dasha. I don't know if there are multiple audio versions of I received a recommendation from a Goodreads member to read "The Poet" by Michael Connelly. The poems are presented in bilingual format across facing pages. Why? I'm definitely looking forward to continuing his books.
